a path untold
Art direction, design, experimentation and album art for visionary music producer, Dan Merrill, as: A Path Untold.
Dan and I have been friends for a very, very long time, so the collaboration was as organic as one can get. When he started producing music on his own, outside of his previous, and very well known duo, Aligning Minds, I jumped at the opportunity to be of service to his particular brand of beautiful, brooding, spiritual music.
The series of explorations and design pieces featured here were developed for his first solo record, Secret Subtle Light. For this, I experimented with ink, salt, water, vectors, textures, lighting styles, macro photography, typography and muted, murky colors, as well as vibrant, contrasting vectors. What emerged over the course of fifty-two iterations is a series of pieces we are both still proud of today.
Dan is now also instructing others in the arts of music production under the same moniker.
